Kobayashi Maru

By

nowin.jpgLike James Kirk, I don’t believe in the no-win scenario.

Meaning 1: I’m always looking for solutions.

Meaning 2: I have no-win situations. I bristle at them, I resent people who drag me into them.

Let’s discuss the second meaning.

I’m sure no one likes being in no-win situations, but other people have a higher tolerance, either for drama or self-abuse or complete and utter bullshit.

Not me. I can’t stand it.

For instance, if a couple fights, and it’s time to take sides, I choose me. Unless there’s money at stake — cuz then I bet on who’ll fight dirty.

I don’t like being the “bad guy.” I don’t go out of my way to annoy others or even disturb them.

Hey, some folks get off on being the center of attention, even if it means stepping on toes or injuring feelings. I wonder how they do it, but they’re probably oblivious to begin with.

Over the years, I’ve learned to suck it up, because sometimes, in fact, I do have to be the bad guy. I must deliver terrible news, or ’fess up to one of my mistakes.

When forced into a corner, some folks claw their way out. Some wait it out.

Pouting is an option, right? I can pout my way something fierce out of a no-win situation.
