A day in the life
By Wade Kwon6:45 a.m. — Alarm goes off.
7 — Alarm goes off again. I rise to check e-mail, surf Web.
7:25 — Stumble to bathroom. Groom myself in haze.
8:05 — Head to work, late again, cursing.
8:30 — Boot up computer. Check e-mail, surf Web.
8:45 — Pop open first Diet Coke (or any caffeinated diet beverage) of the day.
9 a.m.-2 p.m. — Work: Send 20 e-mails, shuffle papers, meetings, walk to various offices and cubicles, put out fires, update project lists, fret over what hasn’t been done. Food is consumed, but in paltry amounts at desk.
2 — Smoke break with Mike. More Diet Coke. Sit outside and talk (softly) about co-workers, corporate ineptitude, general weirdness.
2:30-4:15 — Work, part 2. Each day is different. Most involves talking with colleagues via e-mail and face-to-face (not a big fan of the phone). Writing would be nice, but usually ends up being last minute.
4:15 — Head home. Errands if necessary, but usually not. Call friends.
4:45 — Fetch mail. Change into comfy clothes (often PJs).
5 — Write for my site. Answer more e-mails. Check MySpace page. Sometimes nap.
6 — Call friends.
7 — Cook dinner, or cereal. Or another Diet Coke. Or some combination of the three.
7:30 — TV time. Plus computer time.
10:45 — More writing time.
1 a.m. — Bedtime. Later if I’m still writing or reading.
