Meg - L.A. Superstar! Yeah, I've gotten an earful about Trader Joe's, too. And yet, I'm OK with the whole Starbucks thing.

oh, and don't forget to mention that whole foods is located on the much coveted "dirt mound". that's the reason why the prices are so inflated.

Wade,
You have NO idea - if Birmingham has suffered this minor assault, come check out LA's grocery stores...frou-frou to the hilt - starting with the 'Grove' 'Farmer's Market' which bears so little resemblance to any of the various real farmers' markets one can find in LA's often less than wealthy neighborhoods. Let's not even talk about 'Wild Oats' (recently bought out by Whole Foods), Mayfair Market (a supposedly less expensive stepchild of the Gelson's Markets), Gelson's, and Bristol Farms. Then of course we have our modest, cost-effective Trader Joe's which is the only market I truly like to shop at.

Here's the link; though, I don't think they have any in Alabama yet...there is one in Georgia.
